DAGO KOKORE
PRIMARY SCHOOL

AN ON GOING PROJECT

This is our original project in Kenya, which began in 2002. Even though much work has been done this is very much an on-going project worthy of our support.

Left: In 2005 we built a brand new infant school block with three large classrooms and an office.

One of our first projects. To supply a water tank to collect rainwater. Children came to school at 7.30am and left at 4.30pm without any water to drink! Now they have free access to water whenever they wish.

Several classrooms have been renovated, with concrete floors, proper windows and doors, plastered walls, and electricity!

An important part of the project has been the building of good toilets

A new pathway to the school

A little fun. A music competition in 2009

And the winner (the drummer) won a brand new Martin Ukulele and shirt.

In 2009 we provided a new school gate, fencing around the compound, and surfacing to one of the access roads.

Above: A new project in 2009 was the building of a chicken rearing shed beside the school. This will provide a little fund raising business. One day old chicks are purchased and reared up to six weeks old, when they are sold to hotels in the nearby city of Kisumu. profits help to fund resources for the school.

Ongoing work needed at Dago Kokore includes:
  • Another toilet block
  • Renovation of more classrooms, with plastered walls, cement floor, decorations, windows, doors and electricity
  • Books and resources for the children
